Denmark Vows Continued Support To Ethiopia In Renewable Energy

The Ethiopian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister Demeke Mekonnen received Danish Minister for Development Cooperation and Minister for Nordic Cooperation, Flemming Møller Mortensen at his office.

The two discussed on ways of enhancing bilateral relations and cooperation between Ethiopia and Denmark.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister Demeke Mekonnen briefed Flemming Møller Mortensen on latest developments regarding humanitarian operations in the northern parts of the country and preparations for the upcoming National Dialogue, among others.

Demeke commended Denmark’s support for Ethiopia in times of need, calling for continued assistance in this regard.

He said the Government of Ethiopia is committed to unfettered humanitarian access to Tigray region and peace efforts being made by the AU Special Envoy for Horn of Africa Olusegun Obasanjo.

Flemming Møller Mortensen, for his part, reaffirmed commitment of Denmark to continue support to Ethiopia in areas of renewable energy, drought prevention and activities underway to mitigate climate change impacts.

Denmark supports the efforts of Ethiopia to bring sustainable solution to its current challenges, he added.
